Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station of Rocky Mountain National Park. Drive along Bear Lake Road for approximately 12 miles. The road will lead you directly to Hollowell Park, which is located near the end of Bear Lake Road. Look for signage indicating Hollowell Park as you approach. There is no entrance fee specifically for Hollowell Park, but there is a park entrance fee of $30 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take the Estes Park shuttle service from downtown Estes Park to the Bear Lake Trailhead. The shuttle operates seasonally, so check the schedule in advance. Once you arrive at the Bear Lake Trailhead, follow the signs toward the trails leading to Hollowell Park. The walk from the trailhead to Hollowell Park is about 3 miles and can take approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Note that the shuttle may charge a fee for the ride, typically around $5-$10 per person.

• Hiking

  For those who enjoy hiking, you can start your trek from the Bear Lake Trailhead. Take the trail that leads toward the Glacier Gorge area. Follow the signs for the trails that go towards Hollowell Park. The hike is about 3 miles and features scenic views along the way. Make sure to wear proper hiking gear and carry water and snacks. This hiking option is free, as long as you have already paid the park entrance fee.
