Discover more about Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum

The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (PWAM) is more than just a museum; it's a journey through aviation history. Founded in the mid-1970s by Fred Weisbrod, the museum has grown to feature two large hangars and an outdoor exhibit area, displaying an impressive collection of aircraft, vehicles, and artifacts. Located on the grounds of the Pueblo Memorial Airport, the museum occupies the historic site of the Pueblo Army Air Base (PAAB), which was a vital training facility for bomber crews during World War II. The PAAB trained crews for B-17 Flying Fortresses, B-24 Liberators, and B-29 Superfortresses. Today, PWAM preserves this legacy with exhibits dedicated to the base's history and the aircraft that flew from its runways. The museum's collection includes around forty military and civilian aircraft, as well as several military vehicles. Highlights include a B-29 Superfortress named "Peachy," a Boeing B-47 Stratojet, and various fighter jets from the Cold War era. PWAM is also home to the International B-24 Memorial Museum, which honors the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber and the people who built, flew, and maintained it. Additionally, the Southern Colorado Space Museum and Learning Center is located within the PWAM campus, offering a glimpse into the history of space exploration. Visitors can explore the exhibits through self-guided tours or opt for a guided tour led by knowledgeable docents. The guided tours provide exciting stories of history and aviation, with many of the docents having military or aviation experience to share. PWAM also hosts periodic events such as open cockpit days and fly-ins, providing unique opportunities to interact with the aircraft and learn about aviation.
