To reach the Alpine Tunnel Historic District from various locations in the Western Slope, start by getting on US-50 E from your current location. If you are in towns like Gunnison or Crested Butte, take CO-135 N to US-50 E. Continue on US-50 E until you reach the junction with CO-114 W. Take CO-114 W towards Saguache. After about 20 miles, turn right onto County Road 765, which will lead you towards the historic district. Follow County Road 765 for approximately 10 miles until you reach the Alpine Tunnel Historic District. Please note that this road can be rough and may require a high-clearance vehicle. No entrance fee is required.

If you are relying on public transportation, take a bus to Gunnison and then rent a car or find a shuttle service that can take you towards Alpine Tunnel. From Gunnison, follow the same directions as driving (US-50 E to CO-114 W, then County Road 765). After reaching County Road 765, you will need to hike approximately 1 mile to reach the historic district. Be prepared with appropriate hiking gear, as the terrain can be rugged.
