Train
From Stamford, make your way to the Stamford Transportation Center located at 30 Station Pl. You can walk there in about 10-15 minutes from downtown Stamford. Follow Atlantic Street towards the train station. Once at the Stamford Transportation Center, purchase a ticket for a Metro-North train heading to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. The journey will take approximately 50 minutes. Upon arriving at Grand Central, follow the signs to the exit, and then head towards Park Avenue. Walk north on Park Avenue for about 15 minutes until you reach 405 Lexington Avenue, where the Chrysler Building is located.
Bus
Walk to the nearest bus stop along Atlantic Street. You can catch a bus operated by CT Transit heading towards New York City. Make sure to check the schedule for the next bus. The bus ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. From there, it’s just a short walk to 405 Lexington Avenue, where you will find the Chrysler Building.
Bicycle
If you’re comfortable cycling, you can rent a bike from a local bike share program. Start from downtown Stamford and head towards the East Coast Greenway, which will take you toward New York City. Follow the bike paths and roads leading to the Bronx. You will need to cross the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, and then continue south towards Manhattan. Once you are in Manhattan, navigate to 405 Lexington Avenue. Be cautious of traffic, and ensure to follow all biking rules.
Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, it’s about a 40-mile trek to New York City from Stamford. Start by heading north on Atlantic Street towards the Stamford Transportation Center. From there, take the path that leads to the Merritt Parkway Trail. This is a long walk and can take several hours, so ensure you have plenty of water and snacks. Once you reach New York City, navigate to 405 Lexington Avenue by walking through the streets until you find the Chrysler Building.
