If you are renting a car, start your journey from Avarua, the capital of Rarotonga. Drive southeast on Ara Tapu Road (also known as the main road) towards Muri. The drive is approximately 15 minutes (around 11 km). Follow the signs to Muri Lagoon, and you will arrive at the lagoon area where you can find parking available nearby.

To reach Muri Lagoon by public bus, catch the 'Anti-Clockwise' bus route from Avarua. Buses run approximately every 30 minutes. Inform the driver that you want to go to Muri Lagoon. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the Muri Beach stop. From there, walk a short distance to the lagoon, which is just a few minutes away.

Taxis are available throughout Rarotonga. You can call a taxi service from your location; simply tell the driver you want to go to Muri Lagoon. The fare from Avarua should be around NZD 30-40, depending on traffic and time of day. The drive will take approximately 15 minutes.
