Theresa Valley, also known as Terčino údolí, is a captivating natural monument located near Trhové Sviny in the Czech Republic. This national forest and hiking area, established in 1756, offers visitors a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Count Buquoy created the park at the request of his wife, Countess Terezia, after whom the valley is named. The valley features a network of scenic hiking trails that wind through the forest, catering to both seasoned hikers and casual strollers. Along the trails, you can discover rare exotic trees, some of which have stood for centuries, as well as historical buildings and monuments. Notable sights include the Lázniček building, the Empire house of Wenceslas Spa, and the ruins of a blue house from the Classicist period. The valley also boasts a 20-meter high artificial waterfall and a memorial oak over 500 years old. The park's design reflects the romantic French ideals of free and unrestrained nature, complemented by period buildings and decorations. Information panels along the 5 km nature trail detail the history and changes to the valley over time. Despite damage from floods and periods of neglect, many parts of the park have been restored, preserving its charm and historical importance.
