If you are driving from Mindo town, head northeast on the E28 road. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Nanegalito. Turn left onto the road toward Nanegalito (there may be a sign for Refugio Paz de Las Aves). Follow the paved road, which eventually becomes a dirt road. Continue for approximately 4 kilometers, and you will see signs for Refugio Paz de Las Aves on your left. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

From Mindo town, you can catch a bus or shared taxi heading towards Nanegalito. The public transport options are available at the main square in Mindo. Inform the driver you want to go to Refugio Paz de Las Aves or Nanegalito. The ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes, and you should ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the refuge. Once you get off, it’s about a 10 to 15-minute walk down the dirt road to reach the refuge.

If you are already in Nanegalito and prefer to walk, head toward Refugio Paz de Las Aves from the center of the village. Walk along the main road, following the signs towards the refuge. The distance is approximately 3 kilometers, and it should take about 45 minutes to reach your destination on foot. Be prepared for a hilly walk, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
