Getting There

  • Car

    From Mindo Cloud Forest, head south on the main road (E28) towards Quito. After approximately 11 kilometers, you will reach the small town of Nanegalito. Continue driving for about another 6 kilometers, then look for a sign indicating El Pahuma Orchid Reserve. Turn left onto the dirt road; it is well-marked. Follow this road for about 3 kilometers until you reach the reserve entrance. Note that there may be a small entrance fee of around $5 per person.

    Start at the main square in Mindo. Look for a bus heading to Quito; these buses usually leave every hour or so. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Nanegalito. The bus ride should take about 30 minutes and costs around $1. Once you arrive in Nanegalito, ask locals for directions to El Pahuma Orchid Reserve.
