Getting There

• Metro

  Start by taking the Cairo Metro Line 1 (the red line) towards El-Marg. Get off at the 'Cairo University' station. From there, transfer to Line 2 (the yellow line) towards 'Shubra El Kheima'. You will need to ride the metro for several stops until you reach 'Sadat' station, which is in Tahrir Square. Exit the station and head east on Mohamed Mahmoud Street. Follow the road until you reach the intersection with 26th of July Street, then turn left. Continue straight until you reach the Old Cairo area.

• Walking

  Once you are in the Old Cairo area, navigate to Kom Ghorab. From the nearest metro exit, head south towards the main road leading into Old Cairo. Take a left on Wekalet El-Balah Street, continuing until you reach the fork. Here, take the right path towards the Kom Ghorab area. The shrine is located at 264J+V52, Kom Ghorab, which is a short walk from the main roads.

• Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a bus from Tahrir Square. Look for buses marked with 'Old Cairo' or 'Coptic Cairo'. Board the bus and ask the conductor to let you know when you reach Kom Ghorab. Once you disembark, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to St. George’s Shrine located at 264J+V52, Kom Ghorab.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  If you prefer to take a taxi, you can request a ride-sharing service like Uber or Careem. Simply input 'St. George’s Shrine, Kom Ghorab, Old Cairo' as your destination. The drivers are familiar with this location, and you can expect a short ride depending on traffic, which is typically manageable outside of peak hours.
