Car
If you are driving, you will want to take the A1 highway from Addis Ababa towards the south. After approximately 80 km, look for the exit towards the Tiya World Heritage Site. Follow the signs indicating the site as you get closer. The site is located about 8 km southwest of the town of Tiya. Upon arrival, there is a small parking area available for visitors.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To reach Tiya by public transport, head to the main bus station in Addis Ababa. Look for a minibus heading towards the town of Butajira or the nearby area. The fare is typically around 50-70 Ethiopian Birr. Inform the driver that you wish to stop at Tiya. Once you arrive at Tiya town, you may need to take a short taxi ride (about 10-15 Birr) or walk approximately 8 km to reach the World Heritage Site.
Taxi
If you prefer a direct route, you can hire a taxi from Addis Ababa to Tiya World Heritage Site. This option can be more expensive, with costs ranging from 2000 to 3000 Ethiopian Birr for the one-way trip. The driver will take you directly to the site, and you can negotiate for a return trip if needed.
