Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the center of Axum, start at the Axum Stelae Park. Exit the park and head south along the main road, which is called 'Aksum - Adwa Road'. Walk for about 15 minutes until you reach the junction with a large tree at the intersection. Here, take a right onto a smaller path. Continue walking straight for about 10 minutes; you should see signs pointing towards the Ezana Stone. The Ezana Stone is located in a small enclosure on your left side, just past the local market.

    Alternatively, if you are near the Church of St. Mary of Zion, exit the church grounds and turn left. Walk down the street until you reach the main road. Cross the road and follow it southwards for approximately 10 minutes. You will pass several small shops and cafes. The Ezana Stone will be located on your right side, just before the local market area.

    From the Axum Museum, exit and turn right. Walk straight for about 5 minutes until you reach the main road. Cross to the other side and head south on Aksum - Adwa Road. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will see a sign for the Ezana Stone on your left. The entrance to the site will be right there.
