If you are driving, start from Bahir Dar, the capital of the Amhara Region. Head south on the A3 highway towards Gojjam. Follow the signs for approximately 180 km (about 3-4 hours) until you reach a junction near the town of Debre Markos. Take a left onto the road leading to Dogua Tenbien. Continue on this road for about 20 km until you reach Megab. From Megab, follow local signs or ask locals for directions to Abune Yemata Church, which is located about 5 km from the town center. Be cautious of the road conditions as some parts may be unpaved.

Public Transportation
To reach Abune Yemata Church via public transportation, you can take a bus from Bahir Dar to Debre Markos. The bus ride will take approximately 3 hours. Once in Debre Markos, you will need to find a taxi or a local minibus heading toward Dogua Tenbien. This segment may take an additional hour. Ask the driver to drop you off at Megab. From Megab, you may have to hire a local guide or a tuk-tuk to reach the church, which is about a 5 km journey. Be sure to confirm the total fare with the driver beforehand.

If you enjoy hiking and are already in Megab, you can walk to Abune Yemata Church. The church is located approximately 5 km from the center of Megab. Follow the main road out of town, and then take the footpath towards the church.
