Getting There

  • Car

    From Koli National Park, start by heading east on the road leading out of the park. Continue driving for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 6 (E63). Turn left onto Route 6 and follow it for approximately 40 kilometers. You will pass through several small towns, including Lieksa. After about 40 kilometers, take the exit toward Ilomantsi (Petkeljärventie). Merge onto Petkeljärventie and continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach Petkeljärvi National Park, which will be on your right. Make sure to check the park's website for any parking fees.

    From Koli National Park, take a bus from the nearest bus stop (check local schedules, as service may vary). You will likely need to take the bus to Lieksa first. From Lieksa, transfer to another bus towards Ilomantsi. The total travel time can take about 2-3 hours depending on the transfer times.
