Discover more about Hailuoto Organum

Nestled in the serene landscape of Ulkokarvo on Hailuoto Island, the Hailuoto Organum offers a unique intersection of art and nature. This concrete spatial artwork, created by the esteemed acoustic artist Lukas Kühne and built by Hai Art, was completed in the summer of 2014 as part of the Soiva Saari project. Kühne has also designed similar works in Estonia and Iceland. The Organum comprises three interconnected domes of varying sizes, each resonating with a distinct musical note, acting as a natural amplifier. The sculpture's round shape was chosen for its acoustic properties, harmoniously blending with the surrounding environment. Visitors are encouraged to explore the domes, sing, speak, or simply listen to the natural sounds amplified within the structures. Located away from the shore, near a lush path accessible from the Ulkokarvo desert hut, the Hailuoto Organum provides a space for contemplation and interaction with sound. It stimulates both visual and auditory senses, offering a tranquil escape. The artwork is freely accessible year-round.
