    If you are driving, start by entering Big Cypress National Preserve from US-41 (Tamiami Trail). From the entrance, make your way to the Gator Hook Trailhead, which is located approximately 11 miles south of the main visitor center. To get there, follow the signs for Loop Road, which is a scenic drive that runs parallel to the Tamiami Trail. Continue on Loop Road until you reach the intersection at Gator Hook Road. Turn right onto Gator Hook Road and follow it for about 1.5 miles until you see the Gator Hook Trailhead parking area on your left. There is no fee to park at this trailhead.

  • Public Transportation

    Public transportation options are limited in Big Cypress National Preserve. The nearest major public transportation hub is in Naples, FL, about 30 miles west of the preserve. From Naples, you would need to rent a car or use a rideshare service to get to Gator Hook Trail. Follow the same driving directions as mentioned above once you have a vehicle.
