Car
If you're traveling by car, start on US-1 northbound from any point in Nature Coast. Continue on US-1 until you reach the intersection with FL-528. Take the exit for FL-528 East towards Cocoa Beach. Follow FL-528 for approximately 15 miles until you reach the exit for Merritt Island. Merge onto Merritt Island Causeway and continue straight. Turn left onto Pine Island Road. The Pine Island Conservation Area will be on your right at 1655 Pine Island Rd, Merritt Island, FL 32953. There is no entrance fee for the conservation area.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you can take the Space Coast Area Transit bus service. Start by taking the Route 1 bus towards Merritt Island. The bus will take you to the Merritt Island Shopping Center. From there, you will need to either walk or take a taxi or rideshare service to Pine Island Conservation Area, which is about a 5-mile distance. Alternatively, check local schedules for any direct routes that may take you closer to Pine Island Rd.
Bicycle
For those who enjoy cycling, you can bike from nearby areas like Cocoa or Merritt Island. Take the scenic route along the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge if you're coming from Cocoa. Follow the designated bike lanes along FL-520 and then turn onto Pine Island Rd. This route offers beautiful views of the local flora and fauna, making it a delightful ride to the conservation area.
