Getting there

Boat

If you're staying in Fare, you can catch a local ferry that operates frequently between the islands. Head to the Fare ferry terminal and look for the ferry heading towards Opoa. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Opoa, disembark and follow the signs towards the main road. You will then need to take a short walk of about 10-15 minutes towards the southeast, following the coastline until you reach Raiatea Sur Mer.

Taxi Boat

From the main port in Raiatea, you can hire a taxi boat directly to Opoa. This is a more private option and will take you directly to the shoreline near Raiatea Sur Mer. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Once you arrive at Opoa, you will need to walk approximately 5 minutes northwest along the beach to reach Raiatea Sur Mer.

Bicycle

If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Fare. Start from the main square and head southeast along the coastal road. The ride will take about 1 hour, passing through scenic views of the lagoon and lush landscapes. When you reach Opoa, follow the signs to Raiatea Sur Mer, which will be a short ride or walk from the main road.

Walking

If you are closer to Opoa, you can simply walk to Raiatea Sur Mer. Start at the Opoa village center and head southeast along the main road, which is well marked.
