Depending on your starting location within Bavaria, take the nearest major Autobahn (A9, A92, A93, etc.) that leads to Munich. Upon reaching the city, follow signs for the city center (Innenstadt) and then for Maxvorstadt. There is limited street parking available near the library, so look for 'Parkplätze' signs. Be aware that parking may incur fees ranging from €1 to €4 per hour.

To reach the Bavarian State Library by train, take an intercity or regional train to Munich Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station). Once at the Hauptbahnhof, follow the signs to the U-Bahn (subway) station. Take the U2 line towards Messestadt Ost and get off at the stop 'Karlsplatz (Stachus)'. From there, transfer to the U5 line towards Neuperlach Süd and get off at the next stop 'Sendlinger Tor'. Finally, transfer to the U6 line towards Klinikum Großhadern and get off at 'Universität'.
