Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the main town of Berchtesgaden and head south on B305. Follow the signs towards Schönau am Königssee. After approximately 6 km, you will reach a roundabout. Take the first exit onto B20, which leads directly to Königssee. Once you arrive, look for parking options near the lake; there are designated parking areas, but note that parking may incur a fee (approximately €5 for a day). From the parking area, it’s a short walk to the boat dock where you can catch a boat to the Echowand.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take the bus from Berchtesgaden to Königssee. The bus stop is located near the train station in Berchtesgaden. Look for bus number 841, which runs frequently throughout the day (check the schedule for exact times). The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Königssee bus stop, follow the signs to the boat dock. You'll need to buy a ticket for the boat ride to the Echowand, which costs around €12 for a round trip. The boat ride is scenic and takes about 30 minutes to reach the Echowand.

• Boat

  Once you reach the Königssee dock, you will need to purchase a ticket for the boat service that operates on the lake. The boats are run by the Berchtesgaden Königssee Shipping Company, and you can check their schedule online at their official website. The boat ride to the Echowand is a must-do experience, as the boat navigates through the picturesque lake surrounded by mountains. Keep in mind that the last boat returns from the Echowand around 4:30 PM, so plan accordingly.
