Public Transport
If you are in the central area of Munich, head to the nearest U-Bahn (subway) station. You can take the U5 line towards 'München Laim' and get off at 'München Hauptbahnhof' (Main Station). From there, transfer to the U2 line towards 'Messestadt Ost' and get off at 'Sendlinger Tor'. Exit the station and walk east along Sendlinger Straße until you reach the intersection with Rosenstraße. Turn left onto Rosenstraße and continue until you reach the courtyard where the War memorial is located.

If you are near Marienplatz, simply walk east along Kaufingerstraße (the pedestrian shopping street) which will lead you to Sendlinger Straße. Continue straight until you reach the Sendlinger Tor. From there, follow the previous instructions to get to the War memorial in the courtyard.

You can also take a tram from the central area. Board Tram line 19 at 'Karlsplatz (Stachus)' in the direction of 'St. Emmeram'. Disembark at 'Lehel' stop. From there, walk north along Lehelstraße, then turn right onto Widenmayerstraße. Continue straight until you reach the courtyard with the War memorial.
