Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Palatinate, access the A5 motorway heading north towards Heidelberg. Take exit 38-Heidelberg/Schwetzingen and merge onto B535 towards Heidelberg. Follow the B535 for approximately 7 km. As you approach Heidelberg, follow signs for 'Heidelberger Altstadt' (Heidelberg Old Town). Once in the Old Town, you can find parking at the Parkhaus P12 (Address: Untere Neckarstraße 4, 69117 Heidelberg) which is a short walk from the Muttergottesbrunnen. The parking fee is about €2.50 per hour.

• Train

  If you are traveling via public transportation, first find your nearest train station. Board a train towards Heidelberg, which is well-connected by regional trains. Upon arrival at Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main station), transfer to trams or buses heading to the Old Town. You can take tram line 5 towards 'Heidelberg Ziegelhausen' and get off at the 'Bismarckplatz' stop. From Bismarckplatz, it’s a 10-minute walk to Muttergottesbrunnen, following the street signs towards 'Heidelberger Altstadt'. A single train ticket costs around €5.

• Bus

  Another option is to take a bus to Heidelberg. Check for regional buses that service your area and head towards Heidelberg. Once you arrive at the main bus station (Heidelberg Bismarckplatz), you can walk to Muttergottesbrunnen. The walk is approximately 10 minutes through the charming streets of the Old Town. Make sure to have a ticket ready, which usually costs around €3 for a one-way journey.

• Bike

  For the more adventurous, consider cycling to Heidelberg. There are bike-friendly routes that lead into the city. Once you reach Heidelberg, you can find bike parking near the Old Town by Muttergottesbrunnen. It’s a scenic ride, but do ensure you have a good map or GPS to guide you through the city streets.
