From Heraklion, head to the central bus station located at 1 Leof. Plastira. Take the KTEL bus towards Agios Nikolaos. You will need to ask the driver to drop you off at the stop closest to Karidi. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs towards Areti Monastery, which is approximately a 15-minute walk uphill. Look for local signs directing you to the monastery.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can walk to Areti Monastery from central Heraklion. Start at the Lion Square (Plateia Liontaria). Head east on 25th August Street, then continue straight onto Leoforos Ikarou. Follow this road as it turns into the road towards Karidi. The walk is approximately 1.5 hours, and while it is a longer option, you will enjoy the scenic views of the area along the way.
