Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the central bus station in Heraklion, located at 2-4 Vivilaki Street. From there, head southeast on Vivilaki Street for about 200 meters until you reach the intersection with 25th August Street. Turn left onto 25th August Street and continue straight for approximately 500 meters. You will pass several shops and cafes along the way. When you reach the end of 25th August Street, turn right onto the pedestrianized street, which becomes Koundourou Street. Continue straight for another 300 meters until you reach the intersection with Par. 4i Pediados Viglas. Turn left onto Par. 4i Pediados Viglas and walk for about 50 meters. The Nikiforos Fokas Votive Column will be on your right side.

    From the central bus station in Heraklion, take any local bus heading towards the direction of 'Agios Nikolaos.' Get off at the 'Archeological Museum' stop, which is approximately a 10-minute ride. From the bus stop, walk south on 25th August Street for about 300 meters until you reach the intersection with Koundourou Street. Turn left onto Koundourou Street and walk straight for another 300 meters. At the end of Koundourou Street, turn left onto Par. 4i Pediados Viglas. The Nikiforos Fokas Votive Column will be about 50 meters down the street on your right.
