Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Rethymno Old Town, head towards the coastline by walking along the narrow streets filled with shops and cafes. Make your way to the central square, known as Plateia 25is Martiou. From the square, follow the signs towards the Venetian Fortezza Castle. You will need to walk along the waterfront promenade (Akti Kountourioti). Continue walking until you reach the entrance to the castle, located at the northern end of the old town. The castle is easily recognizable and situated on a hill overlooking the sea.

Public Transport
Although Venetian Fortezza Castle is within walking distance for most, if you prefer to use public transport, you can take a local bus. Head to the main bus station in Rethymno, located near the Old Town. Look for a bus heading towards the Fortezza stop. Once you arrive at the Fortezza stop, it's just a short walk up to the castle entrance. Follow the signs that direct you to the castle.

Cycling
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Rethymno. Start from the Old Town and head towards the coast. Follow the same route as the walking directions along the promenade. There are bike paths available, and you can park your bike in the designated areas near the entrance to the Venetian Fortezza Castle.
