From Rethymno's Old Town, the Central Gate of the Fortezza is easily accessible on foot. Start from the Rimondi Fountain in Platia Petichaki and head north. Walk along Arkadiou Street, a main thoroughfare, towards the sea. As you approach the Venetian Harbor, turn left and follow the coastal road. The Fortezza will be visible on the hill to your right. Continue along the road until you see steps leading up to the fortress entrance. The walk is moderately steep and takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Entrance fee to the Fortezza is €4.
