Car
From Borgarfjörður, head south on Route 54 towards the town of Akranes. Continue on Route 54 until you reach Route 1 (the Ring Road). Turn right onto Route 1 and follow the signs for Hvalfjörður Tunnel. The tunnel entrance is located at 424 Hvalfjörður Tunnel. There is a toll fee of approximately 1,000 ISK for cars to use the tunnel, payable at the entrance.

To reach Hvalfjörður Tunnel via public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from Borgarfjörður to Akranes. Check the local bus schedules at [Strætó](https://www.straeto.is) for routes and timings. Once in Akranes, you can catch a bus heading to Reykjavik that passes by the Hvalfjörður Tunnel. Make sure to inform the driver to drop you off near the tunnel entrance. Note that public transportation may have limited schedules, so plan accordingly.
