Car
If you are starting from the main area of Langjökull Glacier, drive southeast on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Reykholt. After approximately 12 km, turn left onto Route 518, which leads towards the Hvalfell area. Continue on Route 518 for about 8 km until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork to stay on the road leading towards Hvalfell. Drive for another 5 km until you see a sign for Hvalfell. The last part of the journey may involve unpaved roads, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for better accessibility.

Public Transportation
Take a bus from Reykjavik to Reykholt, which is the nearest town to Hvalfell. From Reykholt, you will need to arrange for a taxi or shuttle service, as public transport does not directly connect to Hvalfell. The taxi ride to Hvalfell will take approximately 30 minutes and may cost around 10,000 ISK (Icelandic Króna). It’s advisable to book the taxi in advance to ensure availability.

For the more adventurous, if you are already in the Langjökull Glacier area, consider hiking to Hvalfell. Start your hike from the nearest accessible area in Langjökull.
