Car
From Skaftafell National Park, head east on Route 1 (Ring Road). Continue for approximately 55 kilometers (about 35 miles). You will pass by beautiful landscapes, including mountains and glaciers. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Jökulsárlón. When you see the sign for Jökulsárlón, take the exit and follow the road for about 10 minutes until you reach the parking area at Jökulsárlón.
Public Transportation
From Skaftafell National Park, you can take a bus operated by Strætó (the public bus service in Iceland). Check the schedule for departures from the Skaftafell bus stop. You will need to take a bus heading toward Höfn and get off at the Jökulsárlón stop. The journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Be sure to check the latest bus schedules as they may vary by season.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct and private transportation method, you can take a taxi from Skaftafell National Park to Jökulsárlón. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. Note that taxi fares can be quite expensive in Iceland, so be prepared for a higher cost, usually ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 ISK (Icelandic króna) depending on the time of day and demand.
