Car
If you are driving from the Skaftafell Visitor Centre, head southwest on Route 998 (Skaftafellsvegur) for about 3 km. Continue straight onto Route 1 (Ring Road) and drive for approximately 20 km. Look for signs directing you to Hnappavellir, which is approximately 5 km off the main road. Follow the dirt road to reach the scenic spot. Please note that the last portion may require a vehicle with good clearance.
Public Transportation
To reach Hnappavellir using public transport, take a bus from the Skaftafell Visitor Centre to the nearest bus stop on Route 1. From there, you will need to either walk or arrange for a taxi to cover the last 5 km to Hnappavellir, as public buses do not service the direct road to the scenic spot. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary seasonally.
