Drive approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the Skaftafell visitor center. The campground, Skaftafell tjaldsvæði, is located just behind the visitor center, accessible via a short walking path. There is no fee for parking at the visitor center.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to Skaftafell. Bus companies like Reykjavik Excursions or Straeto operate routes to Skaftafell, but be sure to check the schedules as they can vary by season. Once you arrive at the Skaftafell bus stop, the Skaftafell tjaldsvæði is a short 10-minute walk from the bus stop. Simply head towards the Skaftafell visitor center, and the campground is located just behind it. Make sure to check if the bus stops at the Skaftafell visitor center for direct access.
