Getting There

Start your journey at the Vik i Myrdal Church, which is located on a hill overlooking the town. From the church, head east down the hill towards the main road, Route 1 (also known as the Ring Road). Once you reach Route 1, turn left (north) and walk along the side of the road. Be cautious as this is a busy highway. Continue walking for approximately 1.5 km until you reach the turn-off for Route 215, which is marked by a sign. This will be on your right.

After turning onto Route 215, follow this road as it curves and eventually leads you further away from the main highway. The road is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, so take your time to enjoy the views. Continue walking on Route 215 for about 3 km until you reach a marked trailhead for Valahnjúkur. The trailhead is indicated by a small sign on the left side of the road.

Once you reach the trailhead, you can begin your hike up to Valahnjúkur. The trail is moderately steep but well-maintained.
