Walking
From the center of Vík í Mýrdal, start at the Vík í Mýrdal Church, which is a prominent landmark. Head south on the main road, Víkurbraut (Route 1). Continue walking for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the gravel road leading towards Reynisfjara beach. Take a left onto this road and walk for another 1 kilometer, following the signs towards Reynisfjara. As you approach the beach, you'll notice the stunning basalt columns and black sand. From the beach, look for a hiking trail that leads towards the cliffs. This trail will take you towards Valahnukur, which is located approximately 2 kilometers from the beach. Follow the trail uphill, and you will arrive at Valahnukur, where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

If you're renting a bike in Vík, start at the Vík í Mýrdal Church and set your GPS for Valahnukur. Head south on Víkurbraut (Route 1) for about 1.5 kilometers. At the intersection with the gravel road leading to Reynisfjara beach, turn left. Continue on this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the beach. Park your bike and follow the hiking trail that ascends from Reynisfjara towards Valahnukur. The trail is well-marked and will lead you approximately 2 kilometers to the peak, where you can take in the stunning views over the coast.
