    From the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center, follow Illinois Route 71 east. Turn left onto E 950th Rd/Starved Rock Rd. The campground entrance will be on your left. Parking is available at your campsite. Limited parking is available; extra vehicles must park in the designated lot.

  • Walking

    From the Starved Rock Lodge, follow the marked trail towards the campground. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles and takes about 30-40 minutes. Follow the signs carefully to avoid getting lost. Note that the trail can be uneven in places.

Starved Rock State Park Campground, located in Utica Township, Illinois, provides a convenient and immersive experience within one of the state's most beloved natural areas. The campground is composed of three individual campgrounds: Starved Rock State Park West Loop, Starved Rock State Park East Loop and Starved Rock State Park Youth Group Area. The park itself is steeped in history, dating back to indigenous peoples and early French explorers. The campground provides easy access to the park's 13 miles of trails, allowing visitors to explore the unique sandstone canyons, seasonal waterfalls, and panoramic views of the Illinois River. The campground offers a variety of Class-A Premium campsites, with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups. Each site is equipped with a gravel or cement pad, a picnic table, and a fire pit with a grill. Modern amenities include water hydrants, shower houses with flush toilets, and a dump station. A seasonal camp store offers essential supplies from May to October. The area's rich history includes the legend of Starved Rock, where a group of Illiniwek Native Americans sought refuge. In the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed many of the park's trails and the iconic Starved Rock Lodge. Today, visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, and exploring nearby attractions such as Matthiessen State Park and August Hill Winery.
