History of Malabar Coast

The Malabar Coast has been a significant hub for maritime trade since ancient times. As early as 3000 BCE, the region was known for its spice trade, particularly black pepper and cardamom, which attracted traders from Mesopotamia, Egypt, and later, the Roman Empire. The port cities of Muziris and Nelcynda flourished as bustling trade centers, facilitating cultural exchanges and economic prosperity.
