From Historic Hills Scenic Byway, head west on Highway 92 and merge onto I-80 W. Continue on I-80 W for about 30 miles. Take exit 136A to merge onto I-235 E toward Des Moines. Continue on I-235 E for about 6 miles. Take exit 8B for 42nd St. Turn right onto 42nd St and continue for about 2 miles. Turn left onto Grand Ave, and you will find Terrace Hill Historic Site at 2300 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312. Parking is available on-site.

If you are using public transportation, take the local bus service from any location in Historic Hills Scenic Byway to downtown Des Moines. The bus routes will vary, but generally, you can ride the DART (Des Moines Area Regional Transit) bus. Once you arrive at the downtown bus terminal, transfer to Bus Route 60 (which goes toward the West Des Moines area). Get off at the stop closest to 42nd St and Grand Ave. From there, it's a short walk to Terrace Hill Historic Site, located at 2300 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312.
