    From the center of Downtown Des Moines, head north on 3rd Avenue. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Washington Avenue. Turn left onto Washington Avenue and proceed west for 0.3 miles. You will cross over the Des Moines River, and after the bridge, turn right onto 4th Street. Walk for another 0.2 miles until you reach Goode Street. Turn left onto Goode Street, and the Bates Park Historic District will be on your right at 301-399 Goode St.

    You can take the DART bus service (Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority) from Downtown Des Moines. Board the Route 1 bus heading towards the River Bend neighborhood. The bus stop is located at the corner of 3rd St and Court Ave. Stay on the bus for approximately 10 minutes and get off at the stop near 4th St and Goode St. From there, walk south along Goode Street for a few minutes, and you will reach Bates Park Historic District at 301-399 Goode St. Note that a one-way fare is $1.75.
