Getting There

    From Hawler (Erbil), head southwest on 60 Meter Street towards the Erbil Citadel. Continue straight for approximately 15 km until you reach the town of Khabat. Follow the signs towards the village of Mirkani. After passing through Khabat, continue on the main road until you reach the village of Mir Ki. The Mar Mattai Monastery is located approximately 10 km outside of Mir Ki. Look for the signs directing you to the monastery as you approach the area. There is no entry fee for the monastery, but donations are appreciated.

    Take a minibus from the main bus station in Hawler (Erbil) to Khabat. The fare is usually around 1,000 IQD. Once you arrive in Khabat, hire a local taxi to take you to Mar Mattai Monastery.
