If you're driving from Sligo town, take the N4 road towards Dublin. After about 6 km, take the exit for the N15 towards Strandhill. Continue on the N15 until you reach the village of Strandhill. Once in Strandhill, follow the signs for Knocknarea. You will reach a designated parking area near the foot of Knocknarea mountain. Parking is free, but spaces can fill up quickly on weekends.

To reach Queen Maeve's Cairn via public transport, take a bus from Sligo town to Strandhill. Bus Eireann operates services that run frequently throughout the day. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Strandhill, you will need to walk to the trailhead for Knocknarea, which is approximately 1.5 km from the bus stop. Follow the signs for the Knocknarea trail, which leads directly to the cairn.

If you're already in Strandhill, you can walk to Queen Maeve's Cairn from the village center. Head southwest towards the coast and follow the signs directing you to Knocknarea. The walk to the trailhead is about 2 km and will take approximately 30 minutes. From the trailhead, the hike to the cairn itself is another 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked, but be prepared for a moderate incline.
