Experience Malahide Butterfly House

Getting There

  • DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit)

    Start at any DART station in Dublin city center, such as Tara Street or Pearse Station. Purchase a ticket to Malahide. Board the DART train heading northbound towards Howth. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Malahide Station, exit the train and follow the signs to the station exit. Upon exiting, turn right and walk down the main road (Malahide Road). You'll see signs for Malahide Castle and Gardens, which is about a 20-minute walk from the station. Follow the pedestrian path until you reach the entrance of Malahide Castle.

  • Bus

    From Dublin city center, you can take Bus 42 from O'Connell Street to Malahide. Board the bus and enjoy the scenic drive, which will take around 45 minutes. Disembark at the Malahide stop. From there, it is a short walk to Malahide Castle and Gardens, where the Butterfly House is located. Follow the pedestrian signs towards the castle, which should take about 10 minutes.

  • Walking and Public Transport

    If you prefer a combination of walking and public transport, you can start by walking to the nearest Luas tram stop in Dublin, like Abbey Street. Take the Luas Red Line towards Tallaght and get off at the last stop, where you will transfer to Bus 42. Board the bus heading to Malahide.
