Getting There

  • Walking

    From Kilkenny Castle, exit the castle grounds and head southeast on The Parade. Continue straight until you reach the junction with High Street. Turn right onto High Street and continue walking. After approximately 500 meters, you will reach the intersection with the Green's Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto the Abbey Street. The Black Abbey will be on your left after about 300 meters.

    If you are starting from St. Canice's Cathedral, exit the cathedral grounds and head southeast on the circular road. Turn left onto the Nore River Walk and follow the river downstream. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach the junction with High Street. Turn left onto High Street and continue for about 300 meters. The Black Abbey will be on your right.

    For those starting at the Smithwick's Experience, exit the building and turn left onto John Street. Walk straight until you reach the junction with the Parade. Turn right onto The Parade and continue for about 400 meters. You will then reach the intersection with High Street.
