Public Bus
From Salthill, head to the nearest bus stop, which is located on the main road by the Promenade. Look for the bus stop labeled for routes heading to Galway city. Take the bus towards Galway city and get off at the Eyre Square stop. From Eyre Square, transfer to Bus Eireann route 419 heading towards Clifden and ask the driver to let you know when you reach Maam Cross. The Connemara Railway Maam Cross Heritage Centre is a short walk from the bus stop in Maam Cross.

Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Salthill. Start your journey on the Promenade, cycling west towards the city center. Once you reach the Claddagh area, follow the signs for the N59 road towards Westport. Continue along the N59, passing through picturesque landscapes until you reach Maam Cross. The Connemara Railway Heritage Centre is located off the main road; look for signs directing you to the center.
