Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Florence Cathedral (Duomo), head southwest on Via Roma until you reach Piazza della Repubblica. Continue straight onto Via degli Strozzi, then turn right onto Via della Vigna Nuova. Continue until you reach Piazza Santa Maria Novella, then head south towards Via della Scala. Take a left onto Via della Scala and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via della Pergola. Turn right onto Via della Pergola, and it will lead you to the Pitti Palace entrance. The Piazza dei Pitti will be directly in front of you.

    Starting from the Uffizi Gallery, exit the building and walk towards the Ponte Vecchio. Cross the bridge, and once on the other side, follow the road slightly uphill on Via de' Guicciardini. Continue straight until you reach Piazza Pitti, where the impressive Palazzo Pitti is located.

    If you are at the Accademia Gallery (home of Michelangelo's David), exit and head south on Via Ricasoli. Continue straight until you reach Piazza San Marco, then turn left onto Via Cavour. Follow Via Cavour until you reach the intersection with Via dei Servi. Turn right and continue until you reach the intersection with Via de' Tornabuoni. Turn left onto Via de' Tornabuoni, and follow it until you reach the Ponte Santa Trinita. Cross the bridge, and after crossing, turn right onto Via de' Guicciardini to arrive at Piazza dei Pitti.

    From Santa Maria Novella train station, exit and head to the bus stop located outside the station. Take bus number 11 or 36 towards 'Porta Romana'. Get off at the 'Piazza Pitti' stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Piazza dei Pitti.
