Travel Guide to Piazzale degli Uffizi

Getting There

• Walking

  Starting from the Florence Cathedral (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), head southwest on Via dei Calzaiuoli towards Piazza della Signoria. Continue straight until you reach Piazza della Signoria, where you will see the Palazzo Vecchio. From there, walk towards the Uffizi Gallery entrance, which is located on the eastern side of the square, next to the river. Once you reach the Uffizi Gallery, look for the exit that leads to the Arno River. After exiting, turn left and follow the riverbank until you see the Piazzale degli Uffizi on your right, just a short walk away.

• Public Transport

  If you are near the Santa Maria Novella train station, you can take Bus Line 14 or Line 23 towards 'Piazza della Libertà'. Disembark at the 'Piazza della Signoria' stop. From there, walk towards the Uffizi Gallery, following the same path as described above. This bus journey will take approximately 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute walk.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a quicker route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Florence. Simply tell the driver to take you to 'Piazzale degli Uffizi'. The journey should take around 5-10 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis can be found at designated taxi stands or can be requested via phone.

• Bicycle

  If you want to cycle, you can rent a bike at various locations throughout Florence. Start from the main bike rental point near the Santa Maria Novella train station. Cycle southeast towards the river, and follow the bike paths along the Arno River. As you approach the Uffizi Gallery, look for designated bike parking areas. After securing your bike, it’s just a short walk to the Piazzale degli Uffizi.
