Getting There

  • Public Transport - Subway

    Start your journey at Tenjin Station, which is a major subway hub in Fukuoka. Take the Kuko Line (Airport Line) towards Hakata. After two stops, get off at Hakata Station. From Hakata Station, transfer to the Hakozaki Line and travel towards Nakamozu. Get off at Hakozaki Station. Exit the station and walk towards the bus stop outside the station. Board the Nishitetsu Bus #55 (heading towards Shikashima) and ride for approximately 25 minutes. Alight at the Shikaumi Shrine bus stop. The shrine will be a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    You can start your journey from Hakata Station. Head to the bus terminal located on the 1st floor of the station. Look for the Nishitetsu Bus service and take Bus No. 54 or 55 towards Shikashima. The ride will take around 35-40 minutes. Make sure to get off at the Shikaumi Shrine bus stop. Once you disembark, you can easily spot the shrine a short distance away.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in the Higashi Ward area, you can reach Shikaumi Shrine by walking. From the nearest subway station (Hakozaki Station on the Hakozaki Line), exit the station and head west towards Shikashima. Follow Shikashima Street (Shikashima Dori) for about 20 minutes. The shrine will be on your left, marked with traditional torii gates that lead to the entrance.
