Getting There

Car
If you're traveling by car, begin your journey by getting onto the Tōhoku Expressway (東北自動車道) from your starting point in Kanto. Depending on your location, you may need to use Route 4 or Route 16 to connect to the expressway. Drive north toward Utsunomiya and then continue on the Tōhoku Expressway until you reach the Nikko exit (日光IC). After exiting, follow the signs to Nikko. Once in Nikko, take Route 120, heading towards Chūzenji. You will pass through scenic areas, and eventually, you will see signs for Senjōgahara. The parking area near the observation deck may have a small fee, so be prepared for that.

Public Transportation
To reach Senjōgahara by public transportation, start by taking a train to Shimo-Imaichi Station (下今市駅) on the Tobu Nikko Line. From Shimo-Imaichi Station, transfer to a bus bound for Chūzenji Onsen. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as they may not run frequently. The bus ride will take you through beautiful landscapes and approximately 40 minutes later, you will arrive at the 'Senjōgahara' bus stop. From there, it's a short walk to the observation deck. The bus fare will cost around 1,200 yen one way.
