Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from Tokyo and take the Tōhoku Expressway (東北自動車道) towards Utsunomiya. Continue on the expressway and take the Nikko exit (日光出口). Follow Route 119 towards Nikko, and then take Route 60 towards Yumoto. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at Yuno Lake, located in Yumoto, Nikko, Tochigi. Note that there may be toll fees on the expressway, which typically costs around 1,500 to 3,000 JPY depending on your starting point.

    For those using public transportation, take the JR Tōhoku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Utsunomiya Station. This journey takes about 1 hour. Once at Utsunomiya Station, transfer to the JR Nikko Line and take the train to Nikko Station. This leg of the journey takes about 40 minutes. Upon arriving at Nikko Station, you can take a bus (approximately 30 minutes, 1,000 JPY) to Yumoto Onsen, which is near Yuno Lake. Buses run frequently, so you should have no trouble finding a ride.
