Getting There

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Kyoto Line (the rapid train) towards Nagaokakyo Station. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Nagaokakyo Station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop located just outside. Board the Kyoto Bus number 21, which will take you to 'Tenmangu-mae' bus stop. The bus ride lasts about 10 minutes. From the 'Tenmangu-mae' bus stop, the Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine is a short 5-minute walk. Follow the signs leading to the shrine.

    If you are driving from central Kyoto, take the Meishin Expressway and exit at the Nagaoka-kyo Interchange. Follow the signs towards Nagaokakyo city center. Once you reach the city, use a GPS navigation system to guide you to '2 Chome-15-13 Tenjin, Nagaokakyo, Kyoto 617-0824'. There is parking available near the shrine; however, be prepared to pay for parking (typically around ¥300-¥500 for a few hours).
