Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-In Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards Saga-Arashiyama Station. The journey takes approximately 14 minutes. Once you arrive at Saga-Arashiyama Station, exit the station and turn right onto Arashiyama Street. Walk for about 10 minutes. You will pass by shops and restaurants. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of Hōrin-ji, which will be on your left side. The temple is set in a serene area, so keep an eye out for the entrance.

    From Kyoto Station, take bus number 28 towards Arashiyama. The bus ride will take about 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Hōrin-ji' bus stop. After exiting the bus, you will see signs directing you to the temple. Follow the signs, and it will be a short walk (about 5 minutes) to reach Hōrin-ji, located on Arashiyama Kokuzoyamacho.
