Getting There

Train

If you are starting from Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in Line towards Sonobe. Get off at Saga-Arashiyama Station (about 15 minutes). Once you exit the station, head west on the main street towards Arashiyama. Continue walking straight for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the Arashiyama area. Hōrin-ji will be located on Kokuzoyamacho Street.
Bus

From Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto City Bus number 28 (bound for Arashiyama) or number 11 (to Arashiyama). The bus ride will take around 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Arashiyama' stop. From there, walk towards the north along the main road, cross the Togetsukyo Bridge, and then follow the road leading towards Kokuzoyamacho. Hōrin-ji will be on your right side as you walk along.
Bicycle

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Kyoto Station or in the city. Follow the Kamo River cycling path heading northwest towards Arashiyama. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you reach Arashiyama, head towards Kokuzoyamacho Street, and Hōrin-ji will be nearby.
Walking

If you are already in the Arashiyama area, you can reach Hōrin-ji by walking. From the Arashiyama Station or the Togetsukyo Bridge, head towards the northern part of the area. Walk along the main street until you see the Kokuzoyamacho turnoff. Hōrin-ji is located on this street, and you should see signage leading the way.
