Bus
From Kyoto Station, take bus number 100 or 206. Ride for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the 'Shishigatani' bus stop. After exiting the bus, walk along the road towards the north for about 10 minutes until you reach the entrance of Mount Daimonji. The trailhead is clearly marked.
Train and Walk
Start at Kyoto Station and take the Karasuma Line towards Kokusai Kaikan. Get off at the 'Kitayama' station (about 15 minutes ride). Exit the station and walk east along Kitayama Street for about 20 minutes until you reach the entrance of Mount Daimonji. Look for signs that indicate the hiking trail.
Taxi
You can hail a taxi from anywhere in Kyoto. Show the driver the address: 'Shishigatani Daikokudanicho, 大文字山, 〒606-8442 Kyoto'. The taxi ride will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic, and it will drop you off near the entrance of Mount Daimonji.
