    Getting There

    Public Transport - Subway

    If you are near Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway northbound and get off at Shijo Station. From Shijo Station, take Exit 1 and head east on Shijo Dori street until you reach the Kamo River. Cross the river via the Shijo Ohashi Bridge. Once you reach the other side, turn left and walk along the river until you see Pontocho Alley on your right.

    Public Transport - Bus

    From Kyoto Station, board bus number 205 or 17. Get off at the 'Shijo Kawaramachi' stop. Once you disembark, head south on Kawaramachi Street. After about a 5-minute walk, turn left onto Pontocho Alley. Pontocho will be on your left, and you can explore its charming restaurants and atmosphere.

    Walking

    If you are staying in the Gion area, walk towards the Kamo River and head north along the riverbank. After around 10-15 minutes, you will see Pontocho Alley on your left just before you reach Shijo Ohashi Bridge. You can enter the alley and enjoy the ambiance of this historic area.

    Public Transport - Tram

    Take the Hankyu Kyoto Line from Kawaramachi Station to Omiya Station. Once at Omiya Station, transfer to the Arashiyama Line and travel to Katsura Station. From there, take a bus or taxi to reach central Kyoto. After arriving at the Shijo Kawaramachi area, follow the walking instructions provided in the bus guidance to reach Pontocho Alley.
